Call for proposals

Canada’s Peoples, Places, and Polities from Below: A View from the US in Times of Cross-Border Fracture and National Reaffirmation

 
Dr. Yulia Bosworth and Dr. Christina Keppie are preparing an edited volume on how US-based scholars understand Canada amid growing cross-border tension and renewed debates over Canadian identity.

They invite proposals (300–350 words) for chapters exploring how Canada’s identities, communities, and sociopolitical dynamics are studied from the United States. Work may address themes such as multiculturalism, Indigenous perspectives, regional identities, policy debates, arts and media, migration, EDIA, and more. Scholars at all career stages are welcome.

If you are interested in contributing, please submit an abstract of 300-350 words to the Center for Canadian-American Studies at Western Washington University (canam@wwu.edu) by January 31, 2026.

Proposed deadline for full submissions (5,000-7,000 words): September 30, 2026.
