Emerging Scholars Colloquium

As part of its Biennial Conference, with the participation of the Association internationale des études québécoises (AIEQ), the American Council for Québec Studies (ACQS) hosts the Emerging Scholars Colloquium / Colloque de jeunes chercheur.e.s, a pre-conference series of panels for graduate students and junior faculty whose research touches on Quebec, Francophone Canada, and Franco-America. The selected participants are mentored by senior scholars in the field and benefit from close connections with other graduate students and junior faculty. Acceptance into the colloquium is competitive, and is typically supported by a generous stipend to help cover the cost of travel and lodging, and by a complimentary registration for the conference and a two-year membership in the ACQS, which includes a subscription to Québec Studies, the bilingual, interdisciplinary journal published by the American Council for Québec Studies in collaboration with Liverpool University Press.

The participants are expected to attend significant portions of the full ACQS conference. We encourage the best papers from the colloquium to be submitted for publication, in French or in English, in the peer-reviewed journal Québec Studies.
